After reading Ruth Riecl's Garlic and Sapphires I had a greater appreciation for the subtleness of really good food. The duck was not at all gamey, and the cherry reduction was surprisingly adult--I had expected it to give me cavities. Bobby had cedar plank salmon (yum!) and rosemary risotto. Risotto is a hard thing to make and especially hard to make well; any chef that can do it well earns his bragging rights. The Deep Fork did a decent job at flavor (rosemary, butter, and sage) although the consistency was off.
For dessert, a lovely creme brulee garnished with fresh mint and balsamic strawberries. It was decadent, but lighter than I expected--a wonderful finish. Of course, my favorite part is cracking the carmalized top. I can't help but think of Amelie. Wish there was more of the carmalized top, but business was picking up when our desserts came around, so it may have been rushed a bit
I've been obsessed with this meal for a while, even after I ate until near bursting. Is it crazy to think on dinner so much?

or maybe our tummies share a unique bond. Dunno. All I know is that it's a sin to pass up creme brulee. ;-)

I'm still salivating over yesterday's pork/eggplant Stir Fry from Happy All Restaurant, so I actually agree with you.

Mmmm
Next time you go, try the Chili Lacquered Chicken. I think it has tequila in it too. But it is very good. Deep Fork is always at the Arts Festival too and that is nice.August 23 2005, 14:44:42 UTC 6 years ago
